The Protocol is an interdisciplinary and independent platform for current discourses in architecture - freely following the concept: architecture in context. The independent student magazine was initiated and edited by students of the architecture program at the Berlin University of the Arts. As a self-organized publication project by students, Protocol aims to expand common ways of looking at architecture. With the Call for Contributions, the editors specify a topic for each new issue, which is freely edited by all interested parties.

The 9th issue deals with the topic "Error".

In holding the wrong to be right or in assuming that the seemingly wrong is right, lies the seed for something new. In issue 9, we are not concerned with trying to formulate a better way of dealing with errors. We want to see the questioning of supposedly erroneous situations as potential, as a moment in which a space of possibility opens up.
The supposed error points us to exactly what is not commonplace and thus allows other strands of development to become visible as alternatives to reality. While attempts to remain conform bear the risk of triviality, engaging with the unfamiliar can, as it were, increase the possibility of misunderstanding, of being misinterpreted, and hold the chance of discovery.
